Digitisation gives a chance to further expand German-Indian economic relations. This was the core message of the joint press conference by Ambassador Dr. Martin Ney and Carl Martin Welcker, President of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).

"An important aspect of digitization is the intelligent networking of hardware and software, in short: 'Industry 4.0'. India and Germany are natural partners in this area," said Ambassador Dr. Ney.
It is important to set common standards for new technologies. That is why a free trade agreement between the European Union and India remains important. VDMA President Welcker reiterated this demand: "India and the EU could join forces and create a positive approach towards free trade, especially in light of the current world situation with a tendency for more protectionism.”
