The Volkswagen (VW) subsidiary Skoda will invest about 1 billion euro in India by 2021.

Minister Narendra Modi the plans of the Volkswagen Group for the Indian market.

Leading the way for the entire group, the VW-subsidiary Skoda will invest about 1 billion euros in India by 2021.

At a press conference, Meier underlined, that the company would invest in a new model range, a research center as well as the expansion of local production.

All models are to be manufactured on the MQB platform (modular transverse matrix) used throughout the Group.

With the increased commitment the company promises to benefit more from the growing Indian automotive market.

This will make India third largest market in the world in a few years.
