The priority areas are renewable energy and energy efficiency, with two large programs that Germany considers as flagships: the Green Energy Corridors and the Indo-German Solar Partnership.
At the press conference Ambassador Dr. Ney said:
“India and Germany share the same vision of a peaceful and sustainable development of our globe, based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN and the climate negotiations of Paris 2015. India is our biggest bilateral cooperation partner. Since 2013, the German government has committed for
India more than one billion euros every year in development cooperation. Together with ongoing projects that we agreed on earlier, we have programs under implementation, which are worth more than 5 billion euros. We invest so much because Germany is convinced that the programs will have a transformative impact through expanding renewable energy in India and reducing
greenhouse gas emission, thereby benefitting both our nations.”
