The New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), which begins in Delhi on January 6th with European Union as the guest country focuses on the most urgent existential issues like Climate change, global warming, and water pollution among others. Germany along with France and other European Union Member States (EUMS) are the participating countries under the EU Pavilion.
Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar is scheduled to inaugurate the 9- day fair themed on Climate Change and Environment. The fair is organized by the National Book Trust every year at Pragati Maidan.
Ambassador of the European Union to India H.E. Tomasz Kozlowski will be the guest of honor. Author Kallia Papadaki, recipient of European Union Prize for Literature 2017 and Sunita Narain, an Indian environmentalist are the special guests at the fair and are expected to see discussions, workshops and interactive sessions with authors and illustrators.
Reading and literature for children are focus for the publishing industry worldwide. EU Pavilion will have a special section for children like reading sessions, workshops, book illustration for children literature etc.
Thematic panel discussions on European Union activities in the field of climate change, water, environment, Roundtable with the authors dealing in the subject, Illustration Workshop and Exhibition and climate awareness workshops for kids will be offered exclusively at the EU Pavilion.
Highlights of the German stand include Launch of an Anthology of Texts by Contemporary German Authors - translated into Hindi, Lazy Sunday of Literatures, panel discussion “Creative Resistance” and interactive sessions with the German author, Norman Ohler.
Besides, CEO Speak – a forum for publishing, New Delhi Rights Table, Author’s Corners, a series of Literary & Cultural Programmes, seminars & discussions in the forthcoming fair are looking forward to an enthusiastic participation.
NDWBF is an opportunity for EU and Indian publishing industry to meet under a roof and flourish possibilities of fruitful cooperation in future.
