25 German and Indian engineers connect at the DWIH Design-Thinking Workshop ‘Integrated Engineering for Future Mobility’
DWIH New Delhi organised a workshop ‘Integrated Engineering for Future Mobility’ on March 20 as part of the DWIH Indo-German Forum held on March 22-23. This workshop brought together 25 young Indian and German engineers to develop new approaches together in the fields of energy and mobility. Experts from product technology, industrial production, material sciences and digitalisation were also present. The main aim was to connect researchers and enable an interdisciplinary discourse to generate ideas for future international research cooperation projects. The 12 German participants were from TU9 universities and the Indian participants were from IITs and CSIR. Ambassador Ackermann held the opening speech and inaugurated this event. Ambassador Ackermann affirmed, “I am delighted to hear these new research ideas and proposals to solve the most pressing environmental challenges through design thinking and multidisciplinary approaches.”

DAAD Alumni Meet, Kathmandu, Nepal
DAAD New Delhi is organising an Alumni Meet open exclusively for DAAD and AvH Alumni from Nepal on April 27 and 28. The event is subject to selection only. This event will bring together academicians, researchers, stakeholders and alumni associations from Nepal to discuss ongoing and future cooperation projects as well as focus on alumni affairs within the region. A workshop on the first day on the topic ‘Management and Funding of International Cooperation Projects’ will discuss projects application and result framework. It will be followed by presentations on good practices from the South Asia region. The second day will have various brainstorming sessions with alumni to engage and strengthen alumni networks and associations.
Policy Talk: Science-based Start-ups, India and Germany
DWIH New Delhi, DAAD India and Centre for International Academic Collaborations (KIWi) are organising a virtual policy talk on science-based start-ups in India and Germany on May 17. At this event, experts from India and Germany will highlight the opportunities offered by internationalisation and Indo-German cooperation in the field of science-based entrepreneurship and start-ups, specifically giving insights on the internationalisation of incubators and innovation centres at universities and research institutions.

Call for Max Planck Research Group Leader 2023
Max Planck Society invites applications for the position of Max Planck Research Group (MPG) Leader, who will lead their own independent Max Planck Research Group at a participating Max Planck Institute of their own choice for six years. The aim of this call is to support scholars early in their career path. Successful candidates will get to work in an excellent research environment at a MPI with state-of-the-art infrastructure, administrative support, and the intellectual freedom to pursue an original research programme. The MPIs and research facilities operated by the MPG are divided into three sections: the Chemistry, Physics and Technology Section (CPTS), the Biology and Medicine Section (BMS), and the Human Sciences Section (HSS). Any researcher working in these fields are welcome to apply.

Innovators Connect - Tandem 2023
DWIH New Delhi, together with other partner institutes, are organising a two-week immersion programme hosted with incubators in India for young researchers interested in start-up founding and early-stage start-up founders from India and Germany. This programme will include workshops, information sessions, mentoring, networking, visits and intercultural training. Candidates should have a research background in Life Sciences, Material Sciences, IoT/Robotics, AI/ML/Blockchain/Cybersecurity and Engineering. Graduates/researchers associated with one of the partner incubators with a concrete lab to market idea or start-up founders with their start-ups (not older than 2 years) and incubated at one of the partner incubators and Bachelors (Completed)/ Master (Completed/Ongoing)/ PhD (Completed/ Ongoing)/ Post Doc (Completed/ Ongoing) are eligible to apply.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Call 2023
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 Call is now open for applications for Indian and European researchers. These grants will enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and wishing to acquire new skills through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary, and inter-sectoral mobility. The call will also allow organisations all over the world to attract talented researchers, including top universities, research centres, public and private organisations and medium-sized enterprises. This fellowship program provides opportunities for Indian researchers to pursue postdoctoral research in Europe, while also allowing European researchers to be hosted at Indian institutes. It is open to all fields, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), and Economics.

The German Chancellor Fellowship for Indian professionals
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation invites applications from Indian young professionals from wide range of fields such as politics, business, media, public administration, society and culture. The Fellowship for prospective leaders offers talented young professionals an opportunity to spend a year in Germany, which they can use to advance their professional training and conduct together with their German host a project they have developed themselves.

Document Verification Office Clerk' at Academic Evaluation Center (APS)
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in New Delhi is looking for an Academic Evaluation Center (APS) - Document Verification Office Clerk from June 1, 2023. The job profile includes preparing and managing document receipt/document retention of the APS, clerical processing of various APS verification procedures, reviewing application documents regarding authenticity and German university entrance qualification, responding to inquiries about the APS and its procedures from the public (telephone, online), participation in education fairs and information events among others. Candidates must have a good knowledge of Indian and German education systems and cooperation schemes and B2 or equivalent certificate in German language.

Programme Officer - Communications at DWIH
DAAD invites applications for the position of ‘Programme Officer – Communications’ for the unit DWIH New Delhi from July 1. Job profile will include preparation and execution of communication plans for events and projects, designing and editing content for the DWIH website, social media, newsletter and print media. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree with a knowledge of German language, excellent English proficiency, experience in working content management systems and design tools are eligible to apply.

Technical University Berlin
Technical University Berlin carries out basic and supplication-oriented research at an international level. It offers bachelors, masters and doctoral courses to motivated students. This column will give information about the brilliant female scientists who have made or are making their mark in the world of science and technology.
Beate Heinemann

Beate Heinemann, a prominent name in the German scientific scenario, is currently working as the Director in charge of Particle Physics at DESY, Hamburg, Germany. She is best known for her study in the field of particle physics, large Hadron Collider and nuclear physics. Before her stint with DESY, she was also a Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley/CA, USA for 10 years. In 2017, she became a leading scientist at DESY and a professor of experimental particle physics at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg.
