General Visa-FAQs with regard to Covid-19
FAQ
Due to the nationwide lockdown the Visa Section of the German missions in India as well as the offices of our service provider VFS Global remain closed. As soon as we can reopen you will be informed through the website of the German Missions in India. Only then you may book an appointment online with the Embassy / Consulate or make use of our visa service provider VFS.
Unfortunately, this is impossible. Covid19 pandemic has created constraints for many Indian visa applicants and while we can understand that there is a great urgency for many to get a visa as soon as possible we can only refer to our online appointment system since our capacities are limited.
Visa extension is not possible. We will need to review your updated documents. This is why you may book an appointment online with the German missions in India or make use of our visa service provider VFS. Unfortunately we cannot grant you a refund since the visa was already issued but because your planned trip was not possible due to the lockdown the reissuing of the visa will be free of charge. This possibility remains till the end of 2020.
You will need to book a new appointment if your visa has expired since the circumstances of your stay might have changed.
Please don`t cancel your appointment and wait for further information.
We understand that this might be a difficult situation but we cannot reschedule the appointment. As soon as we can reopen you will be informed through the website of the German missions in India, www.india.diplo.de and only then you may book an appointment online with the German Consulate or make use of our visa service provider VFS.
No, rescheduling visa appointments is not possible.
Please contact your local immigration office (Ausländerbehörde) for detailed information. They will advise you if your residence permit / Fiktionsbescheinigung can be extended or if you need to apply for a visa.
