In the interests of public health and safety, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany must temporarily restrict public traffic until further notice to prevent the outbreak of corona viruses (COVID-19 epidemic).
The following currently applies:
We are back for you to a limited extent. In case of a residence permit for blue cards, work visas, skilled immigration, master's students and highly qualified bachelor students, scholarship holders, scientists, internships as part of their studies, self-employed, family reunification. Also in case of Schengen visa for emergencies such as death of a close relative, pregnancy of the daughter, births, marriage of children, trips to the core family (spouse, minor children and parents of minor children), transit visas and seafarers.
In the case of family reunification, the appointments that were canceled during the lockdown are being processed chronologically and those applicants whose appointments could not take place will be informed of a new appointment by VFS. New appointments can only be booked after the backlog has been processed.
We are open for emergencies for German citizens and for the application and collection of German passports (only by appointment). An appointment must be made in advance.
Special appointments for urgent matters that require a signature authentication can only be assigned after consultation with the consular department. Please contact us timely.
If you need copy certification, please check with the office in Germany that requires certified copies and whether they also accept copies certified by an Indian public notary. Please understand that the Embassy in India is currently unable to offer this service for reasons of infection and for protection of our customers and our employees until further notice.
