Within its administrative district the Consulate General along with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development supports and sponsors projects within the scope of possibilities of Organisations, which are assigned the task of project implementation and other mediums of develepment aid. In addition to this, the Consulate General also supports small projects locally, within its jurisdiction, with a focus on education, poverty eradication and healthcare.

Small-scale Projects

The Consulate General in Mumbai has a dedicated budget set aside, with which it supports small-scale projects at grassroot levels. The Consulate General makes independent decisions regarding the allocation of funds and extends support to the developmental work of the short-listed projects within the Consulate's jurisdiction.

Ein Herz für Kinder - A Project for Street Kids in Mumbai

The aid program “Ein Herz für Kinder” supports the “Bandra East Community Center”, a charitable organization run by Father Cyril Souza, which looks after about 70 street kids from the Siddharth Colony slums, about 55 of whom live there. The organization undertook in-house renovations with the donations received besides using the money for financing the meals for these kids and their medical treatment.

Senior Expert Service - SES

The SES, with its headquarters in Bonn, is the Foundation of German Industry for International Cooperation. SES offers interested retirees the opportunity to pass on their skills and knowledge to others, both within Germany and abroad. They work in a voluntary capacity as Senior Experts, helping to train both specialist workers and management staff. Currently the following SES-Experts are rendering their services within the administrative districts of the Consulate General:
Prof. Dr. phil. Dietger Mainz is also associated with the Nagaji Insitute of Technology & Management in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) and supports the faculty in the field of Management.
Dr. Gerhard Albert von der Crone uses his expertise at Chandan Steel in Mumbai and Umbergaon for the improvement of the production process.

Weltwärts is the voluntary service of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It enables open-minded individuals in the age group of 18 to 28 years to undertake voluntary work from 6 months to 2 years in developing countries. Within the Consulate General's Administrative District there are currently 11 volunteers deployed within the framework of the Weltwärts-Programm and are based in Nagpur:
