The Economics department of the Consulate General monitors the development of various business sectors in India. The representatives of the Economics department visit events and trade fairs within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General.


The VDMA, founded in November 1892, is an important voice for the mechanical engineering industry. It represents more than 3,200 member companies in the SME-dominated mechanical and systems engineering industry in Germany and Europe. It a recognized and valued point of contact for companies as well as the general public, science, administration and policy makers.

Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI)

Germany Trade and Invest is the foreign trade and inward investment agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. The organization provides up-to-date information to German companies seeking to expand their businesses abroad. It promotes Germany as a business and technology location to companies abroad that secure and create jobs in Germany. It offers expert advice and support to potential foreign investors looking to enter the German markets. In Mumbai, the GTAI operates from the premises of the Indo-German Chamber of commerce.

Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC)

The IGCC (or the Deutsch-Indische Handelskammer) offers German and Indian companies a wide spectrum of services ranging from advice and consultation to market research and legal services. Established in Mumbai in 1956, the IGCC now has branch offices in five other Indian cities and a liaision office in Düsseldorf.
