National Visa - Upcoming chances regarding Skilled Immigration Act (FEG)

The following group of applicants is affected by this update:
- Applicants seeking Employment Visa

Salary thresholds for labour migration 2023 will decrease:

  • Blue Card in general:
    43.800 euros per year; 3.650 euros per month
  • Blue Card for “bottleneck” professions:
    39.682,80 euros per year; 3.306,90 euros per month
  • Blue Card for skilled workers who have acquired their highest degree less than three years ago:
    39.682,80 euros per year; 3.306,90 euros per month
  • IT specialists:
    39.682,80 euros per year; 3.306,90 euros per month
  • Applicants older than 45 years applying for employment under § 18a or §18b AufenthG:
    48.180 euros per year; 4.015 euros per month

Extension of the list of “bottleneck” occupations:
The list of bottleneck occupations for the EU Blue Card will be significantly expanded. In addition to the existing bottleneck professions (mathematics, IT, science, engineering and human medicine), professionals in the following professions will be able to obtain an EU Blue Card if they meet the other requirements:

  • Managers in manufacturing, mining, construction or distribution
  • Managers of information and communication technology services
  • Managers of professional services, such as childcare or health services managers
  • Veterinarians
  • Dentists
  • Pharmacists
  • Nurses or midwives
  • School and non-school teachers and educators
