Until 31.08.2024:
The current monthly amount (€934) will continue to apply until the end of the transition period. The date of application submission is the key date.
Upon receiving the visa, student applicants will be informed that they will need to prove the new monthly amount when obtaining their residence permit in Germany.

Visa Validity for One Year:
From the effective date of the amendment, one-year visas will only be granted if the new amount is proven.

From 01.09.2024:
Subject to any further changes, the amount of €992 per month must be proven in the visa application process.

This adjustment to the BAföG (Federal Education and Training Assistance Act) rates is necessary due to the rising cost of living for students. Although this increase may impose an additional financial burden on those funding their studies in Germany, it is essential to prevent financial distress and ensure a smooth and successful academic experience.
